Tent for Damaged Japanese Nuclear Power Plant
Monday, August 15th, 2011The Japanese utility company Tokyo Electric Power announces that it plans to construct a giant tent over a section of its damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. The tent will cover one of the most damaged reactors in an effort to prevent the spread of radioactive materials that have already leaked. The reactor was destroyed in a hydrogen explosion one day after the deadly earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit the northeast coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu on March 11.
